In a move aimed at fostering sustainable development and aligning with broader national and state agendas, Hon. Elder Emem Udom, the member representing Ukanafun State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, has officially announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
After extensive consultations with the people of his constituency, Hon. Udom declared his commitment to supporting the ARISE agenda of Governor Umo Eno and the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This decision reflects his desire to prioritize sustainable growth and development for the constituency and the nation at large.
In his resignation letter addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of INEC Ward 8 and AKISIEK Ward 10, Hon. Udom expressed gratitude for the platform the PDP offered him to serve. He stated:
“With humility, I appreciate the confidence and support offered to me as a platform for my election into office as a member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. At this defining moment, let me officially bring to your notice that I have consulted widely and resolved to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
While leaving the PDP, Hon. Udom reaffirmed his dedication to the shared values of integrity and service. He emphasized the importance of adapting with the times, saying:
“We read the time, flow with the time, and do not run against the time.”
The lawmaker expressed his optimism that this decision will serve as a catalyst for achieving the developmental goals of his constituency, highlighting the synergy between Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE agenda and President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope initiative.
This strategic alignment, he believes, will unlock new opportunities for growth and development, creating a brighter future for the people of Ukanafun and beyond.
Hon. Udom’s defection to the APC signifies a pivotal step in his political journey, one driven by vision, unity, and a commitment to delivering meaningful progress. His resolve to connect local efforts with national aspirations offers a renewed sense of hope for his constituency’s sustainable development.
