Since February, suspended senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District has consistently been on the radar of notoriety over her concerted efforts to turn sophistry into an acceptable norm. Reports quote her as describing Nigerians as G&H which according to her means “gullible and hungry”. In her estimation, such a vulnerable condition of the people should be weaponized and preyed upon with sophistry. She has therefore been on this dramatic absurdity this past months using various media platforms to pursue her inanities.
George White once said, “sow the seed of a tarnished name ….you sow the seed of eternal shame “. Natasha has suffered image descent that has impinged her credibility. She no longer has access to major global media platforms as she used to have necessitating her to patronize an amateurish anchor on a YouTube platform.
The interview anchored by one Adeola Fayesun looked like a conspiracy between the two deviants set to unleash another grand deception by further weaponizing gender to advance a sophistry.
What is of great concern about Natasha is her inability to be discerning and her blindness to truth and the reality of the moment. Nigerians have waited for months for her to provide evidence of the alleged sexual harrassment and it has been long in coming. Other allegations which she sheepishly adduced have been deflated by incontrovertible facts provided by unimpeachable sources. Her lack of discernment led to the copycat of Dr. Sandra Duru’s approach which was a broadcast of video interviews that dominated the internet recently. Of course Sandra Duru popularly known as Prof. Mgbeke had provided reasons why she opted for that option and she advertised the time for her fans to follow her. Natasha and her co- conspirator imitating the option stealthily sneaked into a platform and did a video that drew very paltry followership.
According to Lord Action, “truth is the only merit that gives dignity and worth to history”. Natasha who seems to be a glib talker obviously failed to do justice to truth making the sophistry she dished out to the public worthless to history. The inconsistencies in her narrative gave her submission a zero sum value in merit and a hollow spin that can only persuade the undiscerning. Unfortunately for her, Nigerians are very discerning except a few who choose to be beclouded by politics, religious bigotry, unguarded feminism, or ethnic jingoism. Otherwise no one would pay attention to a woman who has a publicly known pattern of using sexual harrassment ruse as a weapon against men. It is time for the society to rise against this obnoxious antic and repudiate those who practice it. Ensuring a full cycle judicial process in the Natasha/Akpabio saga is important. For attempting to tarnish someone’s hard earned reputation with frivolous allegation, there should be consequences. But more than anything else, Natasha is an elite political figure who may unknown to her serve as a role model to many youngsters. If the truth of this matter is not unraveled, addressed and made public, it would fossilize unacceptable behaviour among young people across spectrum. Young men would think it is in order to sexually harass the opposite sex and young women would find the ease in fabricating allegations of sexual harrassment against men. A judicial decision on this matter would help in rebuilding our value system.
It is curious to note that her hollow video which was just razzmatazz without substance and signifying nothing has resurrected the likes of Oby Ezekwesili after her assignment to disrupt the sitting of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petition which was handling the matter at that early stage failed woefully with her reputation shattered into smithereens. Madam Oby was assigned that ignoble task and she bungled it with her trademark outburst. She has again found a voice to ventilate views with convenient quotes from the Scriptures. When one joins the council of falsehood and quotes the Scripture to support false claims, we could only beseech God to continue to be merciful. My counsel to Madam Due Process is that she should ponder and task her conscience to know if she is still in line with truth or just wallowing in hollow activism to embarrass the government and its actors.
For members of Natasha’s coterie, they think this is a circus show with the dramatic personas engaged in intense dramatic actions. It is why the lead protagonist, Natasha during her video broadcast announced that supporters should come to court in solidarity with her. Madam Natasha, be informed that you are not going for campaign or entertainment. You are going to court which hallmark is decorum and appropriate conduct. I had expected that by now you should be sober irrespective of whether your allegations are valid or unfounded. The fact that you are on suspension with a disruptive pattern in your life this past months should be time for you to reflect and take stocks. But that does not seem to happen. Rather you appear to be poaching for more trouble. Your open invitation to your hirelings to show up in court in solidarity is a recipe for contempt of court. And I am tempted to ask the question, “Natasha, trouble no dey tire you ?”. What manner of petulant woman are you? Work on yourself so that you don’t become a bad example to succeeding generations as public perception is already asserting.
